Ham and Cheese Sliders
Sometimes the best things are the simplest. These soft ham and cheese sliders are one of those recipes that disappear from the plate in minutes. The best part? It’s almost impossible to mess them up. Preparation takes just a few minutes, and the oven does the rest. Once you serve them, you’ll quickly understand why these mini sandwiches are such a hit at parties, picnics, and Easter breakfast.

Heavenly delicious sliders

We’re making these for the Easter holidays, and we’re really excited about it. Their advantages are:

  • easy preparation – you can use store-bought rolls or bake your own (we used these)
  • flexibility with ingredients – choose Easter ham or cooked prosciutto and your favorite melting cheese
  • perfect size for a snack or brunch, easily adjusted based on the number of guests
  • ideal for gatherings, holidays, and parties

They are especially popular during the holidays, as you can prepare them in advance and bake them just before serving.

Top 5 tips

  1. Use soft rolls – we prefer homemade, but you can also find great options in stores.
  2. D on’t skip the buttery topping – it creates a rich, flavorful layer, and adding seeds on top gives extra texture and taste.
  3. Choose the right cheese – we used Emmental for its bold flavor, but you can pick any cheese you like. The key is that it melts well, such as Edam, Cheddar, or even a mix of cheeses
  4. Pick the right ham – during Easter, we like to use Z’deželE Easter ham since we already have it at home for breakfast and celebrations. You can also use cooked prosciutto.
  5. Serve warm - let them cool for a few minutes to reach a comfortable temperature, then serve while still warm.

METHOD

  • preparation - optional

If you are using whole Easter ham, first prepare the ham. Cook the Easter ham from Z’dežele, then let it cool and slice it into thin pieces. You can also use cooked prosciutto.

  • spread

In a small bowl, prepare the honey mustard spread. Mix together mayonnaise, mustard, honey, and lemon juice. Set aside until ready to use.

  • fill the slider buns

Slice the rolls horizontally. Use homemade slider buns or store-bought. Spread four tablespoons of the honey mustard mixture over the bottom half. Reserve the remaining spread for dipping. Add prosciutto or Easter ham and cheese, then cover with the top half of the rolls.

  • topping

Place the oven rack in the middle position and preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F). Prepare the topping by mixing melted butter, sesame seeds, fried onion, and fleur de sel in a small bowl. Transfer the sliders to a baking dish and brush them with the topping. Slice them with a knife before baking to make them easier to separate later.

  • bake

Place the sliders in the oven and bake for 18–22 minutes at 180 °C (350 °F). During the last 10 minutes, cover them with aluminum foil if needed (make sure it doesn’t touch the tops). Once baked, let them rest for 10 minutes, then serve with the remaining spread.
